rotary aeromechanics and design

design

Aerodynamics and aeroelastics (the interaction of aerodynamics, system mass and material properties) design for metal and composite impellers of axial and centrifugal fans. Our designs can

  • reduce aerodynamic power loss
  • manage aerodynamic loads
  • manage vibration and loads for extended fatigue life
  • reduced system weight and cost of materials to meet fatigue and limit loads
  • prevent resonance and flutter

analysis

Analysis services for the evaluation of rotor performance, vibration and loads from test data and analytical simulation. We can

  • analyse blade and hub loads for normal, fatigue and limit load operating conditions
  • determine rotor performance, efficiency, vibration and loads throughout the range of operational conditions
  • evaluate rotor aerodynamic acoustics

methods

We can develop aeromechanics methods for design and analysis of large axial fan rotors. Our meta-modelling design software is suitable for application to the design and development of ventilation systems. We have a strong link with Liverpool University's CFD Laboratory providing state-of-the-art computational analysis tools and advanced know-how in high fidelity numerical analysis.

training

We provide training for all aspects of our services from the application of methods (such as CFD and aeromechanics methods) to guiding the design and development of impellers.
